Grateful Dead 2/18/1971 Capitol Theatre - Port Chester, NY (All AUDIO) Source: SBD> PCM> DAT Notes: Complete show Dolby A decoded Jace's source tape: MR>P2>D1 7"" two track BBD reel w/ dolby A @ 7 1/2 ips > PCM501ES @ 44.055 kHz PCM501ES analog out > dolby A decoder > Apogee filter > analog in PCMF1 PCM501ES analog out > Fostex D5 @ 48 kHz The CDs are not direct transfers from the original DAT; these shows have been edited to some extent using Cool Edit Pro. No equalization has been performed, but some work has been done to eliminate the occasional click or pop, and the amount of "dead air" on the original tapes that occurs during the reel changes has been reduced. For this reason the DATs are run off the master CDs at 44k to distinguish between the original WBOTB DATs and these edited versions. This particular show has been filtered to remove the inherent whine at and around 8 kHz. Known flaws in this recording: There is a cut in Saint Stephen. There are no clicks or pops due to digital errors. There is however the occasional analog type flutter and a slight rasp on one channel; these we've inherited from the master tapes. The "Beautiful Jam" from the new box set So Many Roads is the transition between Wharf Rat (the first one) and Dark Star of this show.Art Link: http://www.gdcdcovers.com/annex.html gd1971-02-18.jpg 3 CDR ---------------------------------- (set 1) 1.
